Security Camera Analytics Las Vegas: How Smart Cameras Can Help Your Business

share

Security camera analytics in Las Vegas are helping businesses move beyond simply recording video. Today’s commercial security systems can help monitor activity, improve workplace safety, track occupancy, identify vehicle movement, and alert teams when specific events happen.

At K&B Communications, we believe it is important to continue learning about the technology we install and recommend to our customers. Recently, our CMO, Shaytoya Brown, attended an Axis Communications training focused on security cameras, access control, intercom systems, and Axis Object Analytics.

As an Axis reseller, continuing our education helps us better understand how these systems can be used beyond traditional video surveillance and how we can design solutions around the actual needs of a business.

Security Camera Analytics in Las Vegas Axis training

Security Cameras Can Do More Than Record

One of the biggest takeaways from the Axis training was how much can now happen directly through the camera.

Axis Object Analytics can identify and monitor people and different types of vehicles within selected areas. Businesses can create specific rules based on what they want the camera to watch for.

Axis Object Analytics can detect, classify, track, and count people and vehicles. Businesses can also create different scenarios based on what they want their cameras to monitor.

For example, a business may want to know when:

  • A vehicle travels in the wrong direction.

  • Someone enters a restricted area.

  • A person remains in an area longer than expected.

  • Too many or too few people are inside a specific space.

  • Employees or contractors are not wearing required PPE.

  • Someone crosses a specific entrance, exit, or perimeter.

Instead of having someone constantly watch a wall of camera feeds, analytics can highlight the activity that actually matters.

How Security Camera Analytics in Las Vegas Can Improve Workplace Safety

One capability that stood out during the training was PPE monitoring.

For construction companies, warehouses, industrial facilities, and other environments that require safety equipment, cameras can help identify whether people entering an area are wearing items such as hard hats.

You can also configure a system around schedules. What should happen during normal business hours may be entirely different from what should happen at midnight.

For example, during the day, detecting someone in a work area without required PPE could generate a safety notification. Detecting a person in that same secured area after hours could trigger a security response.

That flexibility lets businesses build security around how their facility actually operates.

Understanding Who Is Coming and Going

Analytics can also help businesses understand movement throughout a property.

Crossline counting can track people or vehicles traveling through designated areas. Occupancy analytics can estimate how many people are currently in a space.

These tools can have applications far beyond security.

A facility could use occupancy information to better understand building usage. A property could monitor vehicles entering and leaving a parking area. A business could receive an alert when someone stays in a restricted or sensitive area longer than expected.

Analytics can also help identify wrong-way vehicle traffic by establishing a directional line and detecting when a vehicle crosses it from the incorrect direction.

Finding Video Faster After an Incident

Another valuable capability is metadata.

Depending on the system and configuration, cameras can capture information associated with objects moving through the scene. This can make reviewing recorded video much easier.

Instead of manually scrolling through hours of footage after an incident, security teams can narrow searches by characteristics, time periods, or object classifications.

For a business dealing with a security incident, reducing the time spent searching through footage can make a major difference.

Continuing to Learn So We Can Better Serve Our Customers

For Shaytoya, one of the biggest benefits of attending the Axis training was seeing firsthand how these technologies can solve real operational problems.

Understanding security technology is important throughout our organization, not just for the technicians installing it.

The training provided a deeper look into how camera analytics, access control, intercoms, audio alerts, occupancy monitoring, and other systems can work together.

At K&B Communications, we are always learning and developing our skills so we can have better conversations with our customers about what they actually need.

A security camera system should not simply give you video. When designed correctly, it can become another tool for helping protect your people, your property, and your business.
